Almost Here...

Well, Christmas is almost here and we are rushing around to finalize all our plans and shopping. It's grade posting time and people are really stressing around here. So...let's sit back for a moment and remember just what Christmas and the holiday season is all about. Obviously Christmas is a purely Christian holiday, but has roots in the Winter Solstice festivals of Old English and Druid origins, especially the act of gift giving. Whether Christ was born on the 25th of December of not is really not relevant; what matters is that we demonstrate the unconditional love and caring that personifies the season. As stated earlier, the giving of gifts to others has a greater significance than is stated in the Christian holiday tradition, gifts, especially to those less fortunate than you has resounding echos across all faiths and beliefs. It really doesn't matter if you celebrate Christmas or not, what matters is that you love and respect others and share your good fortune with those less fortunate. The mere act of giving is one that warms the heart and really gets you into the spirit of the season.

So do this...look around you. The economy is in a shambles, and people are losing jobs, homes, and dignity. Give a gift of love...it doesn't have to be a massive amount of money or a super-duper gift. Give an hour of your time, or a few dollars. Give a small gift for those less fortunate. Most of all...give. You will be surprised just how good that feels!

May your holiday season be filled with love, life, and happiness no matter your faith, creed, or religion. Until next time...

Mr. B
